iOS Development

Why do you want to learn about iOS application development?

iOS application development is highly relevant to my job (web/multimedia designer/developer and Moodle administrator) at the Faculty of Education of the University of Auckland. My department focuses on e-learning and related technologies. The increasing amount of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, etc) creates great opportunities in the field of e-learning. Two main responsibilities of my role are the evaluation of new technologies for e-learning/blended learning and the development and customisation of relevant tools. Current main areas of interest are better/more customisable e-clicker/poll/survey solutions for classroom situations, app or webapp interfaces for common tools (Moodle LMS, etc.), collaborative tools, interactive books and resources, apps to support learning and understanding of problems (e.g. visualisations for maths and physics, language papers, etc.).

Workshop participation

How do you believe your participation in this workshop will help you personally and professionally?

  • Learn best practice from experienced iOS developers
  • Building new networks/contacts in University environments in Oceania
  • potential future collaboration with students and staff
  • benefit from learning about different mobile apps related needs in the educational sector

How do you plan to share what you may learn at this workshop with others?

The AUC has as one of its mission the sharing of knowledge and experience. How will you share your knowledge?

I will share knowledge and experience with staff of the University of Auckland (e-learning designers, lecturers, ITS, graphic designers, etc.), in conferences, in possible collaboration with other institutions and organisations, in e-learning/LMS related groups, etc.
